Avenales Ranch is a working cattle ranch near Shandon in San Luis Obispo County, conserved in 2017. The ranch says its steers are raised on the ranch and that the beef is organically raised, GAP 4 certified, grassfed and grass finished, then dry-aged 27 days.
Beef is offered a few times a year. Join the waitlist on the ranch website, then buy a quarter, half or whole animal, or a beef box, through its sister butcher shop. Shipping within California is $50. The ranch also makes wine under the Shell Creek name, which has nothing to do with the beef.
