Pacific Palisades Farmers Market Reopens 19 Months After the Fire

The Pacific Palisades Farmers Market reopened on Wednesday, August 19, at Palisades Village, ending a closure that began with the January 2025 Palisades Fire. The market had operated for 26 years before the fire. Its schedule has changed from Sunday mornings to Wednesday midday, and its location has moved to the Palisades Village retail development, which reopened the preceding Saturday.

Melissa Farwell, the market’s director of operations, said many participating farmers and vendors have been with the market for 10, 20 and in some cases all 26 years. “To our farmers, vendors, and small businesses, thank you for believing in this market, for your patience, and for returning to serve this community you care so deeply about,” Farwell said.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Traci Park said more than 40 businesses have returned to Palisades Village. Developer Rick Caruso, the owner of Palisades Village, said sales and foot traffic since the Saturday reopening have run at roughly three times pre-fire levels — a figure attributed to Caruso and not independently verified in the reporting.

The reopening restores one direct-to-consumer outlet on the Westside for growers who had been displaced from the site since early 2025.

If you are working out how to actually use a market — which day, which vendors, what to ask — our day-by-day farmers market guide covers the pattern. Markets across the county are listed on the Los Angeles County page.

Why this matters for SoCal: A farmers market is a distribution point for the farms that sell there, not just a neighborhood amenity — 19 months of closure removed a standing weekly outlet for growers who had built a customer base over two decades, and the shift from Sunday to Wednesday changes who can actually get there.

Update, Sept. 22, 2026: Market operators across the region are heading into a winter covered by a statewide El Niño emergency declared Sept. 21; DWR has flagged Southern California for increased storms.
